Every great save
starts in Falmouth.
We're building a dedicated goalie training sheet of ice right here on Casco Bay, a place where Maine's next generation of netminders can flop, sprawl, and stonewall to their hearts' content. Help us make it happen.
We're 0% of the way there. Just between us and fresh goalie ice. That's a lot of chuck-a-pucks, but we've got this. ๐ง
Because goalies deserve more than the corner of practice.
Ask any hockey parent in Falmouth: ice time is scarce, and dedicated goalie development time is scarcer. Our goalies share crowded sheets, squeeze drills into the last five minutes of practice, and drive hours for specialized coaching. A purpose-built goalie training sheet changes all of that.
Dedicated Goalie Ice
A right-sized training sheet built for crease work, movement drills, and shooting lanes. No more fighting for a corner of the rink.
Real Coaching
Space for goalie-specific clinics, camps, and private lessons with qualified coaches, right here in Falmouth instead of two hours away.
Community First
Open ice for local programs, learn-to-play goalies, and every kid brave enough to strap on the pads. The bay raises its own.
Hockey has a goalie problem. Falmouth has a plan.
Ask around any rink in Maine and you'll hear the same story: there aren't enough goalies. Teams borrow netminders from rival squads, coaches run practices shooting at empty nets, and leagues juggle whole schedules around the handful of kids willing to wear the pads. It's a shortage felt at every level of the sport, from mites all the way up to beer league.
No Goalie, No Game
A team can survive a short bench anywhere else on the ice. Lose your goalie and the whole night falls apart. It's the one position hockey simply cannot play without.
The Gear Wall
A starter set of goalie equipment costs several times what a skater pays, and kids outgrow it fast. Too many would-be goalies never even get to try. Dedicated ice with loaner gear knocks that wall down.
Half the Game
Coaches love to say goaltending is half the game, then give it five minutes of practice. No player influences a game more than the goalie. Their training should match how much rides on them.
Every kid who gets real coaching, borrowed pads, and a welcoming place to learn the position keeps a team playing somewhere down the line. Growing goalies grows the whole sport, and that's exactly what this campaign builds.
One goalie per team isn't a plan. It's a prayer.
From 10U on up, every team should be developing at least two goalies. One kid can't carry every practice, every game, and every weekend tournament without burning out. And when that one goalie is sick, hurt, or at a cousin's wedding, the whole weekend wobbles. Our kids need real training, and more of them need the chance to get it.
Two Netminders, Minimum
Sharing the crease keeps kids fresh, builds healthy competition, and means no single ten-year-old carries a season on their shoulders. Deep goalie benches make every team in the league stronger.
Goalie-Focused Practices
Standing in the net while skaters run shooting drills is not goalie training. Practices need dedicated goalie segments: movement, tracking, rebound control, taught by someone who knows the position.
A Real Development Path
From first-time pads to the varsity crease, kids need a ladder: beginner clinics, camps, mentoring from older goalies, and ice time built around their growth instead of squeezed into the margins.
That's the gap this campaign closes. A dedicated goalie sheet gives every team around the bay a place to grow its second and third goalie, and gives coaches the space and support to make practice time goalie-first.
